Are you dropping your oil pan because of bouncing off the rev limiter?, if so its a waste of time, if you dont hear any strange noises and theres no metal in your oil then you are acomplishing nothing. + the only thing you will see is gonna be the crank/rods and rod caps, no way to tell if bearings are damaged by takin the pan off..

unless you plan on tearing the bottom end apart.

you need to drop the k-member or lift the engine if you want any real access. i removed mine as far as it would go with the motor still in the car and the tranny removed. and like jason said your not gonna get to really diagnos anything unless you pull the motor apart.

Sorry, read the last post about metal on your drain plug.

but like jrp said, you need to drop the k-member to get any real access, but like i said earlier, theres no point in it unless your gonna tear it down, and in that case, id remove the engine from the car and go ahead and replace all the bearings send the block off to be line bored and recheck everything and reset all your clearances..

otherwise its pointless..

Goodluck

It can be done with the motor in the car and the tranny still attatched in an Fbody. You just need to support the motor from the top (either with a lift or some cross beams across the shock towers like I used). Then you just undo all the k-member bolts and the shocks and lower the k-member down a few inches by placing a jack under the center. You only have to lower it a bit (don't even have to disconect the brake lines).
