Default Which Comes First: The Cam or the Heads?

I'm considering buying a set of heads a few months from now and, most likely, a new cam. I know there is a lot of talk about selecting parts that complement each other, but is it more correct to choose a cam based on head specifications or heads based on cam specs?

In short, which should be choosen first: the cam or the heads?

Thanks,
Josh

I would decide how large of a cam you want, and do that first if you are NOT doing them both at once. Just my opinion

I'll be doing them both at the same time.

I would keep the TReX and just get a set of heads based upon its specs, but I don't really want to flycut and I could use a grind better suited for use with N2O.

Heads actually its best to get the Bolt ons done first including the converter and gearing. Next Select the intake you wish to use, then the cylinder heads and finally the correct camshaft for max performance for your setup.

Depends on if you want the best results possible. It is best to get some heads, then have them flowed with the intake you are going to use on them. Then, use those flow #s to help pick a cam. Call a custom grinder to help select the right cam. If you do the order any other way, you are just guessing at what would be most appropriate.

ding ding ding

doing it the former route takes more time, money, and effort but the results speak for themselves.

WOOHOO! I did learn something from reading through that 21 page thread on cam discussions... Definately hurt my head too!
