Be sure and put some loctite on the cam sprocket bolts and use a tq wrench.

Just want to let you guys know that I got the cam gear and timing chain lined-up, torqued, and Loctited.

An observation, when I first tried to get the cam gear to slip onto the cam's dowel, my natural tendency was to stretch the chain as much as I could, by lifting it straight up, thinking I needed to in order to mate the gear to the cam, but it finally dawned on me that I should try lowering the gear, slackening the chain, and sure enough the gear slipped right on. Then I rotated the crank, by hand, 360* to see if the crank and cam gear dots lined up.

After I remove the last two spark plugs I'm calling it a day. I'll be happy knowing that the cam install is 100% finished, and I'll be ready to jump right into the spring swap.

Last, but not least, I want to thank you guys, AGAIN, for bailing me out over and over. I don't think I'd have the cam installed without your help. This is a tremendous resource, and so many folks here REALLY know their stuff.

Thanks!

Excellent,
I'm glad to see things are working out. Pretty soon, we will be asking you what numbers you pulled.

Thanks a lot PZ!

I'm looking forward to some good numbers.

BTW, in retrospect, you were 100% correct about making a cam tool rather than buying a JPR. Let's see, $85 for the JPR tool, about $50 for pen magnets (which I ended up using instead of the JPR tool), and total of about $135 wasted compared to a few bucks for 5/16" stock and no need for pen magnets. I shoulda listened.
