I have been looking for heads and narrowed it down to these choices. The reason i chose the LQ9 is because the machine will weld in the combustion chambers and such to make it like the ls6 head, both will yield about the same compression. They are the same price but the LQ9 flows better on the exhaust side and the ls6 flows better on intake. THis is going on my flat top piston 383 stroked ls1 engine and the cam is 226-230 or a bigger. My gasket is a .052 thickness but i can mill either of the heads to a higher compression.

There is NO reason the price should be the same.
The welded LQ9 should be about 600 dollars less.
Use a LS6 head if the price is even close.
Both heads are very similar but you cant beat the LS6.

 

no joke. if you can get them for the same price, then he's either rippin you a new one for the lq9's, or you've found a crazy deal on the ls6's.

 

i've yet to see the "ls6" style head flow or produce the numbers real 243 casting's do.

 

so what should i do i can get either head for 1800 to 1900 they flow around 322 at .600 but the ls6 flows a little better down low but the lq9 beats it from .500 and up, especially on the exhaust side...

 

wtf? the lq9 flows better than the ls6?

 

Look at the mid-lift numbers .200,.300,.400 maybe .500 too!!I"d get the ls6 probably
