Cam Swap checklist.. ? Hey.. Just registered here.. I posted this question on one of the other ls1 boards..
I think Im about to give thunder racing two weeks pay.. am I missing anything for a cam swap here.. belts, gaskets, etc?
LS1 Cam Swap Package w/ Dual Valve Springs
-224/224 .563/.563 114 LSA Cam
-Crane Cams 144832-16 Valve Springs
-Crane Cams 144661 Titanium Retainers
-Crane Cams 144460-16 Hardened Seats
-11-VS-UV5001-EO Valve Stem Seals
-Thunder Racing Stock Length Pushrods (7.400)
-Cam Gaskets
JWIS LS1 Timing Chain
Thunder Racing Modified LS6 Oil Pump
ASP Harmonic Balancer Crank Pulley
-Accessory Belt for ASP/March Crank Pulley Only
Do I need any of these three items for the oil pump swap??
GM LS1 Oil Pump to Pick-Up O-Ring
GM LS1 Oil Pan Gasket
GM LS1 Oil Cooler Gasket

What will the car be like until I can get it tuned? This is my daily driver, will I be able to get to work and back? Will it be stalling and throwing SES lights?

you need the oil pump oring, and a new crank bolt if its not in the gasket hit. your car will run the same it is now except you will get cam surge upon first starting. the cam isnt that big so i wouldnt worry at all.
Just use comp 918 springs with that cam. No need to change spring seats with 918s either. I would use stock retainers with 918's also. There is only a 2 gram/retainer difference between the two because stock retainers are so much smaller then dual spring retainers. The money you save on just those changes will almost pay for a tune. If you are dead set on dual springs, I would look into the Patriot Gold package. They come with everything you need including v/g seals. How drivable your car will before you get it tuned will depend on if it'a an A4 or M6. You will have some idle issues.
