Low Coolant Sensor

If the low coolant sensor is unplug (the one under the radatior cap) about 6 inch down, will that make the car idle like crap when its cold?

Mine went out when I first got my 99 Z28 but it didn't effect anything.

my 01 does not even have the stupid thing. Its another example of my "more crap you have the more problems" saying.

my low coolant light comes on just after startup ! how can i fix this ?
