Default LS1 Performance VS LT1 Performance

Hey guys i got a question, my buddy is getting a CC306 cam on his LT1. He has a 4 in exhaust, BBK Shorty Headers, Underdrive pullies, Cold Ait intake, and some other minor ****. I have a borla exhaust, whisper lid, K&N, Granatelli MAF, and Smooth Bellows. im also a 6 speed and hes an auto, were both on stree tires. In a race who should win? he said hes pusing 450 horse..YA RIGHT, what do u think he should be putting down at the motor and at the wheels. Thanks

The LT-1 car should push around 340 at the wheels if properlly tuned. Maybe 400 at the motor. This is assuming the cam is IN the car. Your car on the other hand will prolly be in the 320 to the wheel range assuming you still have the LS-1 intake. In actuality, the Granatelli MAF is prolly hurting you on power more than helping. Aftermarket MAF's in LS-1's have proven to be horsepower reducers. Shure it fells faster because it ups the part throttle timing, but overall, it hurts more than helps. I personally lost 3 tenths and 3 mph with a SLP maf. If you race him and loose, I'd swap the stock MAF back in and drive it for a day or 2 then try it again. When it gets down to the Auto vs. stick thing, it's just a matter of traction. He'll have more power than you, so if he gets the dig on you, then it will prolly be over. A run from a punch will be more of a comparison to see who is faster.

The CC306 cam is old school but still works pretty good. I do not think it should be a problem or you to spank him. My cousin had a 94 Z a4 car and stock it ran 13.88 in cold weather and seen most stock LS1 m6 cars go 13.20's on average so you automaticaly have a 1/2 second on him he has to overcome first, much less with your mods.

Sounds like to me its gonna be a driver's race, get him out of the hole and you'll be fine. Lots of LT1's and 4's are running that cam here in DFW, haven't seen one over 420 yet, but hey it could happen.
