I'm guessing this is out of a truck (the good engine)?

You should really buy (if you don't already have one) a LS6 oil pump. They were used in the 01 and later cars (might have been in trucks but I don't know). The "old" LS1 pumps would sometimes come apart and send metal into the oil system. You can get a new ported pump from any of the sponsors for ~$150 and not have to worry about anything.

Never reuse oiling hardware off a blowed-up engine, unless you want the new engine to be blowed-up also. The funny wording is intentional. Just buy a new ported unit from a supplier. You'll come out better in the long run, and it'll be cheaper.

this might be a topic but.....

If you take the pump apart, checked it out, and made sure it was clean then there is nothing wrong with reusing an oil pump. You wouldn't dump rockers, pushrods, oil pans, etc. if it wasn't broken would you? Don't spend money where you don't need to but make sure you check EVERYTHING you want to reuse.
