You just need to pull the rockers and pushrods, no need to put brake line to hold the lifters. Just spin the cam over a few times before you pull it out to push the lifters into their trays. Then just get the old cam out and the new one in, in a timely fashion and you will have no problems.

You could do it that way. Many people have gotten by with that method...but if a lifter drops, its a pain in the ***. 5/16's dowel rod, or brake line, will work just fine to keep them up if you want some insurance.
