Default TR230/224 vs TR 227/224

Thinking about gettin either one of these two! Obviously the TR230 will perform a little better but my main concern is day to day driveability...

TR230 - 111 lsa
TR227 - 114 lsa

Just seeing who's had experience with these cams, and if there's a significant noise increase in the operation (of course it will be choppier) of the TR230...
Thunder's humble description of the 227 is "slightly smoother idle than TR230" oooooooooooook..... Also, no one's had problems using stock heads and short block with the 230 right???

Thanks for input!

if your main concern is driveability go with the tr224 114. youo'll have better street manners and are only giving up a bit top end over the tr230. i had the tr230 and didnt like it much, it needs tuning and gears to get the most out of it and to me the low/end midrange was a bit soggy. i actually liked my old T1 better. it all just depends on what your looking for.

intersting... well here's the setup i was going for... cam only, eventually have 3.73s in a 12-bolt... I'm supposedly calling it "quits" after that...

I've heard the 224, I'm sure it's a great 1st cam, just want to go a little more I guess... Pull a little more on top, especially if I'm going to call it a day after cracking the motor open... (we'll see ) Just curious if the 230 will shake, rattle, and roll me any significant amount more than the 227... my first cam so i don't know what kinda difference the 3 degrees of advertised lsa will make... Either way, both cams aren't really considered extreme nut-yanker cams right???

Get a 226 Comp XE-R has 0.585" on 112LSA.
Should give you some shake rattle and roll.
950rpm idle tuned, peak HP at 6,500rpm

I like my 224/224 114LSA a lot. I wish I would have gone with a 228/228 cam though. But I don't drive my car every day either. JMO.

thanks for the input folks! I still got a week to decide so we'll see.... I also don't mind getting tuning done, there's a local shop (American Racing Technology) that's trying to get on their feet and the frontmen are real good friends of mine so they can hook it up on the dyno even if i get a less well mannered stick...

I just installed a TR227 cam only, I really like the set up. Jason from TSP help'd with the tune. It idle's nice at 800 now, Im still working on the WOT mixture. I gain 2/10th's & 3mph in the 1/8mile;
best 1.78 60', 7.81et, 89.91mph (90+temp/humidity)

I know there's some more in it. Im still running with a ls1-intake, And have to rollout before I can stand on it. Can't wait for some cooler weather.

ive been running my tr230 for a little while now idles around 900, slight chop not to bad, drivabilty is great i drive it almost everyday. w/o gears is wasnt bad but not great either, the gears were night and day though even parking lots arnt to much of an issue but thats do to the locker not the cam

as stated above a tune and gears will make the difference

How choppy does this cam sound? Is it pretty loud?
