Default Cam w/ 5.3l heads

Is there any difference between the TSP 224 112 lsa and the TR 224 112 lsa? Good or bad. I am going with the stage 2 5.3l heads and have searching and searching and a lot of people use the TR cam. Just curious if there is something that much better than the TSP cam.

After tuning in a M6 car will I have surging or a/c problems w/ a 112 lsa? Needing to keep car streetable, I want to be able to still take the car on a 200 mile cruise if I get the urge and not have problems.

Oh yeah one more thing I cant make up my mind on5.3 FFHP heads or the 5.3 head that TSP sells. The tsp head has slightly bigger vavles I think. Would it be worth the extra $200 for the set that TSP sells?

The cam you mention is not that big. I have a bigger cam and have taken my car on many 200+ mile trips. I runs fine on the street and I have no idle problems pas the first few min of a cold start. On a cold start I get a little cam surge but it does not die. Get it tuned and enjoy.

The difference in the cams are slight to none. However, I would opt for the TSP .581 XE-R 224 112LSA if you will be using it with the 5.3L heads. The added .581 lift might make a tad more power than the TR .563 lift as long as the heads can flow it. The TSP is cheaper also if I recollect. Tuning will provide everything your looking for with the 224 112LSA. Mine starts right up, no surge, idle issues at all times. Works great for long trips and I do DD everyday. My advice for the heads......TEA, MTI, AS, Rapid these vendors have proven products and are proven powermakers enuf said!

That is great news, because I want a bigger cam but go on a lot of trips in my car.

What lift cam do you have? I am looking for hp in your numbers. I read that if I go with the xer lobes I should change my springs every 20k miles. I have had my car three years and havent put that many miles on it yet. But I dont know if that is something that I want to worry about.

Any chance you have a sound clip of your car?
