I hear the new Morel ls1 lifters are the best. Who sells them? Anyone on here running them?

 

I got mine through Terry at Race Tech Speed. I haven't got them installed yet.

 

Futral sells them as well... Mine should be here tomorrow.

 

I'd love to see a closeup pic of one of those. I may swap lifters again this winter.

 

APE has them, Terry at RaceTech, and Ed Curtis at Flowtech. I tested the first set of hyd rollers they ever made 3 years ago. . .woundn't go back to anything else. Several "large" companies have gone to their hyds also.

Advantage to running a Moral?

 

JS, I beleive they have a better oiling design than whats out there now.

Steel body so not prone to cracking in the axle area. Redesigned valving that prevents pump up during higher rpms. Will accept higher seat and open load spring pressures so that damping of the lifter at high rpm can happen without collapsing the plunger assembly. Increased lobe lift capabilities over the OEM design which is limited to a shorter max lift. Overall tolerances are much tighter then other aftermarkets. And most of all 100% MADE IN THE USA!!!!

Wow, while it doesnt seem to mean much of anything to most americans (who seemingly love to feed their shopping habit at walmart...home of the import...I think thats cool they're made here.

So, the kicker is...whats the price?

 

APE, Flowtech, or Terry @ Racetech should be able to quote you on price. Yeah as we ship our $18@hour mfg. jobs overseas, it will be interesting to see if we can buy and build our hotrods on $6.50@hour part time WalMart jobs. Walmart shopping is the last resort for this American.

OK, here's some pics, and some comments.

The comparison is Morel solid lifter versus a Crane solid lifter.

Morel1 shows a side view. Note the orientation of the oil hole. The Morel lifter can be oriented to where the oil hole goes directly to the feed line on the LS1 lifter oiling "tube". The Crane unit has it on its side.

Morel2 shows a roller view. The roller is slightly thinner (but larger diameter) on the Morels, because you can see that the arms on either side of the roller is thicker. Nice.

Morel3 shows the cup. The Morel cup looks a little better than the Crane cup.

Morel4 shows the height. This is what I bought them for. Note the middle smooth "ring" is higher on the Morel than it is on the Crane. My low oil pressure (currently) was being caused by the small base circle of the cam (1.265" base circle). The lifter was travelling down on the heel of the cam, and oil was shooting past the ring on the Crane lifter. Oil shouldn't be able to shoot past the ring on the Morel.

I'll find out tomorrow how well they fix my oil pressure issue.

Anyone wanna buy a set of Crane solid roller lifters? <1000 miles...

 

Those almost look too pretty to put in the engine lol. Much nicer than the Cranes.

 

Are the Hyd's sensitvie to preload like the CompR's?

 

Not any more than OEM. These can use from .010" to .030" preload and still work flawlessly with any type camshaft. They flat out work!

I have to agree Chris. I used to do Walmart all the time and no I try never to go there if possible. I don't know what's happening to this country.
