Default long tube header problem

I just installed SLP headers ans cats on my 2002 TA ws6. Why does WOT hit the rev limiter now? Also, after 2 days my service engine soon light has come on. Any suggestions why? I used all OS sensors and cats.

thanks

I'm not sure about the rev limiter, but I had to have my rear o2's deleted to get rid of the ses light. Even when it was cleared with atap, it would still come back in a few days.

Hey Man,
Do you mean that your engine is hitting the limiter before your tach says it should? If so this is pretty normal with LS-1 cars that have a good amount of power mods. The tachs become unable to keep up after you make a lil more power than you were off the assy. line. Does it only do this in first gear? If it does this in all of the gears than it may not be your problem. Does it feel like a miss, or is it detonation (sounds like marbles in a tin can). Usually cars go rich after a header install but it is still possible that you could be lean and detonating. Another possibility is bad gas. I got a bad tank of gas a couple of weeks ago and my car developed a miss at higher RPM in first gear (felt like it was tapping the limiter) burned that tank of gas out and went to a diff. place for some gas and octane booster, problem fixed. Like said above the SES light is probably from your rear o2s. Have them deletd via EDIT or get some sims. LTs also frequently throw two other codes (cant remember the numbers do a search in the computer section). Hope this helps

Thanks guys for the info. I installed superchips tuning this morning with the handheld tuner and the SES light went out. I wonder if it is the A/F mixture causing it after the header install?

It hits the Rev limiter in all gears after the header install. It hits it right after the tach goes past the set rpm's

thanks

Could be:
1. Detonation/ Pinging
2. Bad gas
3. Fouled plugs due to overly rich condition caused by headers
4.Bad plug/wire

Also i have gotten DTC1153 and 1154 after header and ORY pipe install. After some investigation it seems exhaust leakage may be the culprit affecting the switching count of O2 sensors and causing codes. Any RTV usage can be suspect also it contaminates O2's. I reccomend installing old o2's after any serious engine work especially head swap. This will protect good sensors that you can reinstall after initial fire up. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
