Oil Pressure Question

Oil Pressure Question I just built a 427 and it idles at 21psi @240oil temp and goes to 38 to psi 4000rpm, I know this is with in GM specs but I would feel better with more. All the bearing clearances are good, new oil pump and the shop that put it in my car swear that the oil pickup o'ring was put in and was new. Other than the plastic plug that goes in the rear of the motor, is there any other oil gallery plugs that could have been left out? I have a K@N filter and 10-40 nonsyntheic oil for the breakin.
That's about right for oil pressure on a forged engine. If you want a little more you could always shim the oil pump. That would pick you up a little. If you were missing a oil galley plug you would have almost no oil pressure. With the 240psi oil temp's 21psi at idle isn't that bad. You might want to consider a oil cooler also, that would help out. If we can be of any assistance just let us know.

In my Mopar days, the Mopar racing books stated that you
need 10 psi per 1,000 RPM.
My HEMICUDA automatic idled at the line with 10 psi at 1,000 RPM
& went thru the traps at 60psi at 6,000 RPM.
This was with fully grooved mains, I never had any bearing
problems...
