With the LPE upgrade option to 2.02" intakes and 1.57" exhaust valves and a low/mid 230's cam I made 440 RWHP/386 RWTQ with 4.10 gears.

We don't carry the heads, but you can get them at any GM performance parts dealer for that price! Call Scoggin-Dickey they usually have them in stock.
These would go great with the new line of shortblocks, here's a couple new ones:

http://www.lingenfelter.com/packages01_short.asp

That's a smokin' deal on the 383, throw on a set of the GM/LPE heads and our GT1-1 cam and you will have a real fire breather!

Port volume on the GM heads is 244cc int/ 85cc exh

I'm sure a few members out there have these installed, maybe we could get some more independant numbers

Ed

What are the upgrade prices for dual springs (for .600 lift or greater) and/or bigger valves?
The heads are only milled by request right?

Thanks.

Default ASA CAM & HEADS

I havent had the time to dyno it yet but a few weeks a go I finished my h/c install. It is the milled ASA heads, ASA cam 226/236 @.05 and .525 lift..
Let me start by saying the heads look incredible!
THe cam sounds awsome!
And the power is there from about 3800 to atleast 6500. 2nd gear, hit the gas and when ts about 4-4200 rpms your tires start crying. 1st gear is comparable to nuetral, you dont go anywhere.
I'm tuning it myself and its get better evrytime I go out with it. So far, my best e.t & mph is 11.50 @ 121. and that was on a 1.7x 60' time (I went 1.6x on stock h/c). My clutch is not holding the way it should be so my e.t. is down from where I think it should be.
I still have cats on the car which is holding back atleast 20hp. Also I stil have the stock MAS, T body and piping. Hoping to get my hands on the LS2 intake/t.b. set up and some large intake ducts.

The heads are available in either a 60cc or 62cc chamber, but they all come milled. Unfourtunately this is the only way to get them at the low price.

We normally go to the Comp cam 26921 kit for more than .600" valve lift, which is a $650.00 kit, but it gives you dual springs, titanium retainers, viton seals, and spring locators. If you sent the heads to us and had the spring upgrade, stainless 2.02/1.57 valves, and full hand sanding, you would be looking at around $1200.00. This would be similar to the setup John B. has.

John B. and cyclerage, those are awesome numbers! Congrats

Wouldn't you want the LS6 valves as they are lighter ( sodium filled )? So you could get the heads at 1900, add the spring kit at 650 so you're at 2550? Plus Ed, don't the CNC heads come out to 11:3 compression without milling?

Yes, I myself would prefer to use the lighter LS6 valves, and save some money, but he asked for a price on the larger stainless valves.

If you chose to stay with the LS6 valves, and install the dual spring kit, you're correct, it would be roughly $2550.00.

The 62cc heads will give you 11.3:1 compression, but this is after milling, a stock un-cut LS6 head has a 65cc chamber.

Hope this helps,

Ed

When I started this thread, I quoted chamber volume (62 or 60) from the SDPC site. Then I found the same head part #s in a GM performance catalog with different chamber volumes. SDPC has corrected their web site to show the correct volumes for heads from Chevrolet. 65cc chambers for p/n 88958665 and 60.9cc for the milled head.

They part number on my head is 88958622. You can get them from Fred Beans chevy for under 900 each as well as all your gaskets, bolts at awsome prices. The double spring is a great idea but if your running a low lift cam (<.525) it isnt needed. Thats the best part of the original ASA H/C set up. Once you get into these HEAVY springs, you start to diminish the longevity of you valve train.
Also, the larger you go with your valve size i.e. 2.02,2.08 etc. the less room you'll have for piston to valve clearance, you have to cut notches in your pistons or run a smaller cam.
The one thing I disliked about this set up is that you have to install then messure for your pushrod length and buy the correct size. I could find anyone who knew what size I needed off hand.
