What are 5.3 heads???
When someone says thay have 5.3 heads on their LS1 are they saying they have 5.3 liter truck heads off the 5.3 or what. Do the 5.3 heads have a smaller combustion chamber which gives more compression? Can someone explain this for me? Do people do the same thing with 6.0 liter truck heads? It says "Internal Engine" thats why I posted here. Thanx guys

5.3 litre heads work great on LS1 motors... My ARE 5.3l H&C will be for sale in about 2 weeks after I take my car into APE to get a new motor... the combo made 432HP/410lb-ft to the wheels on a bone stock LS1 short block in my 2002 Z28... PM me if you are interested!

People get the 5.3L truck heads to increase compression without having to mill down the heads. The 6.0L heads are a cheap alternative to the ls6 as they use the same runner design. They are also used a lot on the big cube motors or 346 forced induction motors to lower the compression. I am running 5.3L heads now.

do 5.3's have reasonable port/runner size? What i mean is, even though compression is lowerd, arent the ports/runners smaller also because of the smaller size of the engine they are made for?
