Thumbs up 422 installed, some questions

Finally got my car back from ARE today, they tailored it to my front door.

I haven't beat on it too hard, but its definitely strong! I've taken to 6k two times.

It did 475 rwhp and 467 rwtq.

11.5:1 CR
Stage III 6.0L heads w 2.08 intakes, not sure exhaust
1 3/4 TPIS
LS6 Intake
Vararam
42# Lucas Injectors
254/254 .648/.648 w Yella Terra 1.8 RR's

Hopefully once I get some miles on it, it will loosen up and get 10 more hp or so. LSX is next mod.

The oil temperature is higher than it was in my 346. Is this because the motor is breaking in and is 'tight' right now?

Also, I downloaded the PCM, and noticed that the cylinder size is still 5.69x L. Does this need to be changed? It has some slight bucking at low rpm, that I'd like to get rid of, but can live with if its just a result of the lower lsa.

Thanks in advance for all your time and comments.

Hey, Greg. Good to see you got the car back; bet it feels good to be driving it again

As to your question on the cylinder displacement, I pulled this right from the LS1Edit user guide...

"...This is really the displacement of one cylinder. It should be changed if you bore or stroke the engine..."

So, I'd assume you should change the displacement to reflect the 422"...

I saw that too, but wasn't sure what effect it would have on what. Does anyone know? Will I have to retune the whole car with regards to getting fuel trims/wot dead on?

My buddy has a 2002 Z28, 427 ci engine. Made 466 rwhp through an A4 and he ran 10.8x and it def has a little more e/t left in it.

Nice setup

What did your a/f look like on your graph?? Since it's on the "fuel" tab, I'm assuming it would somehow play into that...

Maybe if your a/f is good, you're ok??

I'd definitely find out for sure; might want to post up in the PCM section as well. After all the time and money you've got invested in that motor, you want to be sure it's set up right

High tens with a 422 with a big H/C combo? Really? That's pretty weak for dollar/ET ratio. Hell, I plan on running that with a H/C combo on stock cubes.

Where did you get high tens from??
427 466rwhp did high 10's not the 422. (not what I would call a radical 427, if you know what i mean)
Most 427's I know run well over 500rwhp, more like 520>540

There are a few out there

ARE tuned it on their dyno. Personally I wouldnt mess with it without a wideband and an experienced tuner on a dyno.

The guy has a big stall, A4, 12 bolt, drive shaft and all of the normal stuff that would rob some horsepower from a dyno printout. The cam is pretty mild, I could easily see the car as a daily driver. If he put a normal exhaust on the car it'd sound like a 224 cam only setup, if that.

10.8x for 466 rwhp isnt bad considering he was launching off idle, cant wait to see it setup with the hal's and lauch off stall with nitrous. The owner of the car isnt into ***** to the wall setups, he wants something that runs a decent number without too much effort. He'll probaly wuss out and only spray a 75 shot.
