Heads definitely have to come off of the car. Start the job on a Fri, and I'm pretty sure you could be finishing it up on Sun... that's if you take your time.

Hmm, I guess they wouldn't HAVE to come off, you could pull the cam and hope they fall into the oil pan. Good luck getting them back in, though

O...and have fun getting all the gasket material off the heads and block, its a joyous time...

Get some gasket remover (stuffs crazy when you light it on fire, do it in the day time youll see), degreaser, and alot of rags.

a ring of duck tape on the piston and cylinder wall is a good way to keep trash out of your engine, after the scraping is done u can use a shop vac to suck out most of the trash

I don't think getting the gasket material off is as tedious as getting all the crap out of the bolt holes. I use a plastic ice scraper to get the big stuff, and a carefully applied razor blade for cleanup.

If you have room, leave the bottom bolt's in a tad so when you pull off the heads less coolant will get in them.

I have swapped the heads twice. I know the fun involved in taking the heads off. Yes, getting the gasket off is also a pita!!

I doubted there was an "easy way", but figured one of you guys may have a "secret way" I didn't know about.

Bummer,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, just when it was runnin good..

Thanks for your time..
