Just bought an LS1 that is not in the car. How can I verify model year?

98 heads will have a different valvecover bolt pattern, I know the intakes changed at some point but I'm not sure when that happened.

The year will be cast into the block under the water pump port on the drivers side.

If you look at the pic on JMX's site, you can just see the '99' under the water pump port and the power steering pump (right under the '(10MM)' caption).

I know the LS1 intake was replaced by the LS6 intake in the 01-02 models, but I don't know if there is a visual difference when the intake is actually installed.
