offset ground crank motor build up questions....
Alright, was searching through old posts about offset grinding of cranks. found a lot of interesting information. as of right now, i'm just playing with ideas.
one of the things i read, was an offset ground crank to 3.82

no change in strength from stock, maybe a bit more strength? if that is true, would that hold up to say a 200 shot of nitrous? i'd probably only really do 100shot, but just for the sake of knowledge.
also, i was looking at putting that crank in let's say a .030 over 6.0L block. so with that 4.030 bore, and a 3.82 stroke, i get a engine size of around 390cid. Now is there anything wrong with that combination? i see topics of rod/stroke ratio and sideloading the cylinder walls and other stuff like that. anyone see anything wrong with this combo? i'm new to this whole LS1 engine building experience so i'm sorry if I may not be phrasing the questions properly. thanks!

Nothing wrong with that combo in fact it looks DOWN RIGHT AWESOME! Its generally preferable with the LS1 to get the extra cubes with bigger bore than crank and thats exactly what your 390 LQ4 would be doing.
Goodluck!

Alright, thanks!
What size rod would someone recommend for something like this? I don't have a crap load of money for a set of wild heads and cam, so some outrageous set of rods to handle a lot of power isn't necessary.
Also, would it be better to mill the 6.0L heads down, and get pistons that match up to what i want my CR to be, or wouldit be better to leave it the way it is, and then just get pistons to match THAT combustion chamber size to get my CR?

We are working on a short block special with the crank, rods & Diamond Pistons. Diamond doesn't offer a shelf pistons because the funky stroke. They offer 4.030 for 4" stroke & stock stroke though

THeres lots of off the shelf SBC rods with teh 1.888 journal size. Crower and Carillo make some.
also, I'd cut the heads, Diamond has off the shelf 4.030 pistons.
