I just bought a 02 EB z06. I have a problem. I bought the car with 12k miles. It is totally stock. I keep hearing a knock or ping coming from the engine at mid rpm levels. I am thinking that this might be from the shitty gas that the dealers put in the car while they are there. I am curiuos do the ls6's need to have only 93 or what? I think its detonation, has anyone had this problem?

First i would take it easy on the car till it's got the shity gas out of it, and fill it up with some high quality premium. Second i would look at getting the car tuned, especially if the problem persists after you run some good gas through her. And yes, these high compression engines need premium.

 

Yeap, that about says it all, also check service records and see if you might need a new fuel filter.
