is it an O-ring gasket? if so then yes you have to O-ring the block and head....if not then no....
now every gasket I have ordered from Cometic has been a non O-ring gasket (the Darton sleeve MIL gasket isn't an O-ring....I know that much)...

thanks,
the head will not clamp down right on the block.....
at min, you will have WAY more than "0.074" gasket"
worst case the gasket will not seal at all.....

Never heard of an oringed head gasket. If you wanted to ring it you just machine the head or the block and add some wire. Most people don't oring these blocks and they don't have problems on high boost turbo set ups. You will be fine with just the gasket. How come you didn't just flycut the pistons and keep the quench tighter. With that thick of a gasket you are going to be more prone to detonation.

I almost made that mistake......when I ordered my new gasket I didn't think to tell the guy I was putting the gasket on a Darton block......good thing he thought to ask "hey, what kind of block do you have?"

You can use some copper wire to make the oring if you have done the head machining to make it work. It is not necessary though. Just use your cometics and forget about the orings.
