How screwed am i....
i romped on it on the way home tonight and an odd noise accompanied it. after i let off i noticed a clicking noise coming from under the hood. it is also very audible from outside the car.
Pull your valvecovers, they are very easy to pull, if you need help post up and someone can guide you through it. The hardest part is the drivers side where the fuel line is, but the valve cover will come off with fuel lines connected.

I'm thinking exhaust leak too.
I had an old car w/headers that would always lose header gaskets. It was always after a good romp, and the noise was a clicking-tap type noise.
Check all your connections to make sure you don't have an exhaust leak, and then pull the valve covers and hope for the best.
bad news guys its bottom end related i went over his house this morning to fiddle with his car with him, he pulled the valve covers all springs look good rockers look good, check oil 2 quarts low, at this point i hadnt heard the car, put 2 quarts in started it up took a minute or two and then it sounded like this metal on metal chirping like a bearing was just gone, to make a long story short it seized up on him later in the day trying to trade it in, ill let him tell you guys how he finished it off
