I run standard OE cams on my car, but the 'mild' cams I could get for it start at 254 and 258, the normal choice being 278 degree and they go all the way up to 324 degree race cams.

Your both talking about different numbers. From TheJesus' statements he is probably referencing seat to seat numbers, while Predators quoting duration at .050" lift. Being on the same page just might help a bit.

That's what I thought too. Him "The Jesus", saying "mild cams" at 252 duration. But then I checked and I believe he is in the UK, and the cam company he referred to only caters to imports (therefore 252 is mild for 8000 rpm reving imports, mercs, BMV etc....)
This is why I suggested that he reads about the average parameters of the LSx motor. Even for a solid roller, a 252 is not "mild", but more like "medium" and 270>280 is reaching what I would call "extreeme".
