well the head studs came in but no inst on how to torq them. so any one out there using the arp head studs. if so for the ls1/6 what is the specs for them. they are the 190,000 psi ones. everything is cleaned up and they're finger tight in the block. but i dont have the specs on them, i need the 1st, 2nd and final step for them. i called arp and all they told me was to torq to 90ftlbs. for the m11 and 28 for the smaller ones m8. i need to know for all 3 sizes the long ones the two short end ones and the small top ones. they're the black ones. thanks for any help all. eric

 

just go in increments when you are torquing them down! i have always done all the bolts to the same specs... i dont think you do the smaller ones to less or more than the longer ones??!? but when you are torquin em down just start off on like 20ft lbs, then once all of them are that way, just up the torque to 40 or so, get them all snug, then 70 or so, then 90! just make sure that you actually get'em to 90 if those are the proper torque specs

The instructions I got with mine said 75 ft/lbs torque for m11 and 28 ft/lbs for the m8. 90 ft/lbs seems way too high.

i was thinkin that sounded a lil to high for the alluminum heads and block! but i havent had to mess with this kind of stuff yet lol. just your basic sbc and that good ole indian power lol

 

Just remember not to torque the M8 bolts to 75!

I agree that it is 65 and 22 for the top row. 90 is way too much torque.

 

GOD NO!!!!!!! A friend of mine tried that and broke the stud right at the base of the top threads.

Is that 65 and 22 with ARP lube, or with oil ?

 

dont forget to bring down the larger ones in stages not directly to 65

 

25-45-65 and yes that is with arp assembly lube.
