Default Head Studs Installation Question?

Should they be installed with a light coating of oil? Or with non-hardening lock-tite? Are there water passages that some of the studs thread into? Has been suggested that each stud be bottomed out, then loosened about a half thread, so that thread streess is on the bottom of each thread? Sounds logical. Thanks in advance!
