Verify collapsed lifters?
Anyone have some suggestions as to how to verrify if the stock lifters are collapsed or damaged? I am fearing the worst. When the rockers (Crane gold 1.8) are backed all the way off there is no give at all if you push the pushrod into the lifter.
This comes from falowing their instructions and talking with a Crane tech to insure their documented proceadure was fallowed.
1. 0 lash turn the motor over once 0 lash again
2. let stand for 30 min to bleed down
3. (do not turn the motor over the rest of the proceadure )
4. Turn 1/4 turn let bleed down for 15 min
5. Repeat 7 more times for a total of 2 full turns
6. leave for 30 min
7. Lock Polly locks (making sure not to move the adj nut)
All done,
But the valves were hung open and the car would hardly run, plugs fouled within minuets. a few people have mantioned the possibility of the lifters being hurt with the new 918 and all the preload being taken out.
I tried a search but it keeps timing out with no listings
I hate to tear it down for no reason!
Thanks
