Default Eagle Stroker cranks..

I remember hearing that they had very bad balancing issues up front. Has these issues been taken care of? How do these cranks compare to the Callies or the Lunati?

They are more difficult to balance, is the word I've heard from every sponser(and non-sponser) I've talked to. Callies is easier than Eagle, but still not as easy as Lunati, which comes almost ready out of the box from what I understand.

I had my Eagle crank balanced by HPE. They didn't seem to have any problems with it.

The guy who balanced mine said it balanced nicely, with very minimal metal. No complaints here.

The mains mic'd just slightly undersize by a few .00001. Rods were right on. We line honed the block, used +1 main bearings, and got .0020 main bearing clearance. Rod clearance was .0026-.0029 using STD rod bearings.

Weren't all the issues with their "first gen" LS1 cranks? I could've swore I heard they worked out their issues.

I'm building a 383 for a customer right now using an Eagle crank, Diamond pistons, and Lunati Pro-Mod rods. Just had the rotating assembly balanced and the machinist said it balanced nicely, which was not what I was expecting.

The opposite is true for the Callies crank. I know a guy that needed alot of mallory to get it balanced. Ofcourse you'll hear stories about Eagle cranks cause they are half the price of Callies. I saw the Callies in person and they leave alot of casting slop on it. I wasn't impressed considering what it cost.

Wouldn't the Lunati rods be an overkill for the eagle crank?

I'd think it'd take more to break the crank than to break the rods. Rods are more of a weak spot. Just a thought.

The first batch of cranks had issues that have been worked out. We've used quite a few now, balance them and havent had a problem.
