Engine ticking at 2000-3000 RPM

Engine ticking at 2000-3000 RPM I just got my SS (M6) and it clacks a bit between 2000-3000 only while cold. It does not clatter at idle at all. It take a full 15 minutes to go away (its 25-30F) here in the morning now. Once fully warm its gone. Stop it for 5 minutes comes back a little. In neutral it doesn't do it that I can tell, only under load and it seems a bit better under bigger load but maybe I just can't hear it over the exhaust.
It seems to coincide with the natural throb of the exhaust system (stock). Are there standard things I should be looking for underneath that might be doing it. It really sounds like the engine but I might be getting fooled. Its a convertible so things are kind of boomy anyway.
Just curious, I am really trying to ignore it but I want to make sure its okay.

Thanks for the reply. Everyone does seem tired of this topic. I just wasn't sure if that's what it was because I have no noises at all when starting or idling, just at that RPM.
