My LS1 car with 4.11s has a lot more off the line than my old LT1 car with stock gears. Also, the 2001 & 2002 LS1s come with the truck cam in them from the factory; that will give you a lot of low end. I'll bet you could pick up one of those real cheap from someone that upgraded to a TR224!

So an 01 or an 02 truck cam and some 4.10's will give me more torque on the lower RPM range.. SWEET!!! Thanks Guys!! Will the gears make a huge differance in top speed or is it something i will never notice anyway.
All you guys with the cam for sale shoot me an e-mail, im deployed out of the country but we will work something out.

You'll feel the 4.10's in every gear

These cars have a higher top speed in 5th gear than they do in 6th because 6th turns the motor too slow. The 4.10s would lower the top speed in 5th gear from 165 mph to 155 mph with the stock rev limiter at around 6200 rpm. The 4.10s will make 6th gear more useable. You would be able to go faster in 6th gear than before, although probably still faster in 5th. It is possible you could have a higher top speed than before on a modified motor that has the power to pull 6th gear at these speeds.

..it's not how fast you go, but how fast you go fast. Gears will do it, and so will a cam full of low end torque. I like the 4.10's with the manual. Or you can get a 400 SBC and have 400+ lbs. @ 2200.

I have an '02 SS, it had crap for low end torque when stock. Mods have helped. You can have my "truck" cam when it comes out.

Are the 4.10's going to make any difference in gas mileage? Im a daily driver and a little loss is expected for performance, right now im averaging 240 miles (Tampa Bay Traffic) with only a Magnaflow Exhaust and a M6. What are some of you MPG and tank averages with the gears and modifications??

I went from the stock 3.42s to 4.11s on a M6 and coudn't tell a bit of difference in MPG. You just shift sooner if not trying to accelerate hard. My combined city/highway was 21 mpg before and still is now.

BTW, an idea I don't think has been mentioned yet is a blower will give you more low end torque also. Results are pretty dramatic in the cars I've driven but these units are pricey!
