Springs making a conical visit!

Springs making a conical visit!
Anyone see the article on conical springs in High Performance Chevy?
...very interesting ...it said the concial spring is desiged to provide a minimal amount of stress on the train...also said the tapper at the tops allows the use of a small diameter spring retainer which decreases sprung wieght...
...I considered purchasing the 918 conical spings for my H/C job but opted for the Lunati REV doubles instead ...these are not conicals and put a bunch more pressure on the train...
...they have Ti retainers but are not significantly lighter than stock Z06 spring retainers...
...I did not buy the 918s since I heard they broke often....
Did I make a bad decision?

Re: Springs making a conical visit!
I wont say you did make a bad decision but that article hit it on the head about keeping spring /retainer weight down with 918 style spring. This is best approach since conical spring has good tension and more clearance at max lift before coil bind than most of the other dual and single springs for a 1.800" I.H. Spring breakage was not from design flaws, just a problem with quality control on spring wire hardening(heat treat). 987 springs make me nervous, i wont run them on LS1.

...i did not buy the cam yet...all the new parts are hidden away from my wife in the basement...
...while we are on the subject of a cam, I have no clue what to get for my street car...
...ls6 ported heads are milled .o55 so i guess my choices are somewhat limited....
