On the instructions it came with, it said the keyways on the left are advanced and to the right are retarded. I need to advance my cam 6 degrees so I should have to rotate it clockwise, correct?

That's correct as looking at the crank from the front of the engine.

Be sure to duplicate the standard spacing dots when using non standard key. Most advancing gears have squares, triangles or circles to indicate where to go. The Rollmaster does not so you have to count.
