Default Big Cam LS6 question

Hey guys first post,

I'm largely tech retardant when it comes to internal motor, and I've heard this is the place to come for answers. Please bear with me.

I'm gonna be doing h/c cam on my 02 LS6 next week and the recommended cam for the Stage 2 heads was a 232/236 112lsa w/~.601 lift. My question is how do you guys feel about this on a 346?

In looking around I've seen that a few people are only recommending this for 382 and up, but without delving into too much detail. Obviously this is a large cam, but is it going to be unreliable in my car? I'm not really concerned about idle or the like, but the cryptic comments I've seen about it have me wondering about it's application on a stock displacement motor.

I definitely trust the source on the recommendation, but even he could only think of 1 or 2 other instances where it's been used.

Any experts got any thoughts?!?

Thanks
Dave

btw, great info on this site. A hell of a lot more interesting than some of the "oh no, my window valet is malfunctioning" sites.

For street-driven car you don't want anything over a TR224 IMHO, especially if you have emissions testing. But that is just my oppinion- some people have a higher tolerance for the serging, lack of low end torque, and valvetrain reliability issues than I do.

Well, in all fairness I don't have emissions testing, and I only drive the car as a fun vehicle. It's definitely not a daily driver.

As for drivetrain reliability, with the rev 1114 dual valvesprings and all the other requisite stage 2 h/c necessities. How much would it suffer?

And can't most of the issues about surging be handled through a reprogram?

Thanks...it's clear I have no idea what's going on so I appreciate your input.

I think the cam will have some chop to it, and your midrange power won't be better but your topend and power over 5000 rpms will be excellent.
