Default P.P head gaskets

ok guys just bought a pair of heads from them and they came with mls gaskets. Are these gaskets good, anybody had anyproblems with them. I also got a pair of cometics lying around so i wanted to know which pair of gaskets to go with. The heads are 59 cc heads, and the cometics look thinner than the P.P so i was kinda concern about the C.C. going up higher, so tell me if you guys had any problems with P.P mls.

Are the heads milled? If so, by how much. Also, how big of a cam will you be running?

no they are not milled they are the 59 cc chamber where they fill in the conbustion chamber with material instead of milling the heads. I am running the T.R 224,224 cam lift i think is like 550, or 556 somethin like that iam worried about the compression not the valve to piston clearence

Don't worry about the compression.
Are they GM or some generic MLS gaskets?
I like the GM gakets myself.

oooooooo ok but i heard that the gm mls head gaskets don't work on the pre 2000 heads casue of some ridge there that prebents proper seal. This is probably not a problem, and this is a dumn as queastion since they are your heads, and your gaskets, but would that ridge thing be a problem with this heads, and the gm mls gasket that it comes with????

anybody??

yeah obviously not if they send you the heads and the gaskets...patriot uses the 6l heads and welds the chambers so you wouldn't run into the ls1 head casting problems

quench = piston to head distance at TDC

It should ideally be close to .040 for best combustion results (to do with propagation of flame upon ignition)

oooooooooooooo ok got it, well the cometic says it is .040, the gm is from gm so it should be .040 (i guess i'll compress or something) well what ever i'll just go with the gm, and save the cometic for the future or just sell it then

You are talking about gasket thickness.
GM MLS is like .052 if I remember right

Do a search about quench, you'll see what I mean.

depending on how much you piston is out of the hole, you should choose the gasket with a thickness that will get you the closest to .040 quench.
