How much of the bolt is left sticking out of the block? Any??? You might be able to grind down the bolt flat on two sides and use a big *** pair of vice grips or if they're flat enough maybe wrench it out. If no head is left out then i would say drill smaller than you need making sure it's straight and then go in with larger bits til you can pull that biatch out. Good luck man.

Why couldn't you just have backed all the other bolts out, taken off the head, then put vice grips or something to back the bolt out? Or am I mistaken on where the bolt snapped?

The bolt is down in the block nothing sticking out of the block. This is one of the long bolts not the two end ones or the top little ones. with the head off it is still a good 3.5 inches down etc.. You see what I am talking about I have an aluminum block with a steel bolt if i am off even a little witch do you think is going to get drilled first? Thanks for the imput I am starting out small I am going to make a guide to keep it centered.

You may want to think about making a tool to go down in there and back the bolt out...you could even get a reverse drill bit.
I broke an oil pan bolt a while ago. I had about 1/8" sticking out and I was able to turn out out by hand...it was real easy...you might have the same luck since there is probably not much holding it in there.
