Default Finding TDC

Can anyone tell me an accurate way to find TDC with the heads on the car. I have a piston stop tool that made for finding TDC with the head off. What is the best way to do it with the heads on. This is for the purpose of degreeing a cam.

Thanks

you can buy the tool that stops the piston with the head on (screws in spark plug hole) and do it like the head off the car using the stop method. Just make sure the tool is snug and take it really easy coming up to the stop, I've seen people mess up the plug threads on aluminum heads not being carefull.

Assuming you installed the cam dot-to-dot correctly:
1> Turn the crank by hand untill cam/crank gears are dot-to-dot, THIS is TDC on piston 1 & 6, that is all.

Knock out the guts from an old spark plug and weld in a short piece of rod, smooth it's end. Fit it into no 1 cylinder and gently rotate the engine until the piston touches the rod. Make a mark on the crank pulley or flywheel. Rotate the engine in the other direction until the piston stops against the rod. Make another mark. Remove the rod/ plud tool. TDC is midway between the 2 marks you made.
