Default Antifreeze?

What do you recommend for a stock 2000 SS? Also is it 50/50?

dex cool doesnt like air. any leak even tiny ones that dont show up. it starts to gel. if you change every 2 years instead of the 5 they rec. and keep it topped off you will be ok. i dont see as much aluminum corrosion from dex as the green.

I usually change my antifreeze once a year anyways. No way I would keep it in a car for five years.....

I'd put toyota red coolant in mix it 50/50 ish or to -20* with a hydrometer. Toyota red coolant doesn't gel or clog up radiators like dexcrap.

I recommend Evans waterless coolant. You use it straight, and no water is used. You do not need to change it out on the frequency of regular propylene glycol thats' mixed with water. You don't hav enay of the issues with uneven cooling like you would with a regular based coolant that is mixed with water. You will thoroughly need to drain and flush the cooling system. I use the NPG+. Now they have some stuff that's even better than that. These new formulas don't have any of the problems that the original belnds had. Some of the sponsors on the board have run specials on it from time to time. You might just check around.

I change mine once a year also, dexcrap will get nasty over time. I use the Prestone 50/50 premix only. I read something about dexcool gelling when mixed with tapwater. The premix uses treated distelled water.

Dexcool does deteriorate and become sludgy. You guys really ought to do a search function and go back and read on that (Dexcool). If you don't like all the hazards associated with regular coolant, you seriously should look at Evans.

All this talk about Dexcool gelling and deteriorating I just don't understand. The waterpump went out on my car and while changing that I went ahead and put new coolant in. The dexcool that came out of the car looked just like the stuff going in......it hadn't deteriorated at all. That is with 3 yrs and 36K miles also.
