Higher Compression cheap??

Higher Compression cheap?? I have a set of 99 heads (853 castings) I sent to the local machine shop to get a new valves,valve job and ported..I wanted to know if there is any way to raise the compression without milling the heads. I have a pretty big cam and dont want any Piston to valve clearence issues. I have heard people talk about welding the chambers to lower the CC of them will this help..Any input will help..Thanx
