Opinions on Hot Cam...

I have been running it also for about 2 years. Put down 385hp detuned to 24 degrees of timing for nitrous. Stock heads, 12 bolt 3:73 etc. I am fixing to pull it after all this time because LPE LS6 heads are in route. I think it is a great cam for a stock f bod, but I am upgrading. I am still shopping for a cam to match to my new heads, well see.

The way i see it, if your car is going to lope real hard and surge, you might as well put a huge cam in it so you at least make more than 380rwhp. Call FMS, get a F11 or F13. They both drive like stock and make tons of power.
Your sig indicates Futral dialed in your cam, so who tuned your friends hot cam? Maybe that was the problem/difference!
I just picked up a hotcam with a set of LS6 springs for $100.00. Hard to beat for the price. I love the sound of this cam and since my SS is just a weekend toy I think I will be very satisfied with it. I am also installing a LS6 intake and headers when I do the cam next week. I will post the dyno numbers when I get done. Good thread, thanks for the info.
They should sound the same but the HotCam might sound meaner because of the split duration
the over lap on the HC is -.5 and the 224 is 0 on a 112LSA
I did what to correct somthing I said I made 393hp and 390tq turns out the shop doing the tuning had the door closed for msot of the dyno runs and was getting a 1.04 corrcetion factor, then the opened the door and it was (it was closed because it was making the shop to cold for others to work)40 degrees out the sheet says it was 85 degrees and that was on 12/1/04, and they were still getting the 1.04 correction factor, it made on the last dyno run in Feb with a 1.01 correction factor and 64 degrees out 377rwhp and 365rwtq still not bad

For those that have been running the hotcam... if you've changed out your heads what are you running? Im in the market to change out the heads but not sure what works best with the cam. plus im on the bottle.....

, OBD2 only will be fine.
