Default Cam question

On the LS1 - LS6 motor you can add a tr 224 .563 .563 114 LSA but you need to worry about spring life with the Comp 918 springs. Changing the springs every 10 - 20k miles. Why is it that the LS7 has the lift of .591 and wont need the springs changed @ the intervals of 10 - 20k miles? Is the LS7 using different springs? Can you use the springs that the LS7 comes with with the TR 224 cam and not need to worry about changing springs?

Not sure how much it plays, but the intake on the LS7 is titanium which is very light and the exhaust is sodium filled, also very light. Not sure what the ramp rate is on that cam.

maybe change the springs at 10-15k on the 224 with .580 lift, but not on the .563 one......that's a pretty mild lift for the capacity of those springs

So just how often would they need to be changed with comp 918 springs and .563 lift? Do they even need to be changed at all? Maybe once every 40k miles? Would they need to be checked every so often?

I'd say it's due more to how agressive the lobes are rather than how high the lift is.

I think with the 224 and 918's you shouldn't have to worry about changing the sprigns that often its not a huge cam.
