car wont start..help
ok, i know this isnt an lsx engine, but im sure my problem isnt something that most of you wouldnt know how to easily deal with anyway...
we have an 88 blazer v6, and its been sitting for probably a year. i put a bettery in it yesterday and tried to start it up and it started right up, ran for 3 or 4 seconds and died..as if the fuel supply was cut off. what do you think? what should i do first? drain the gas, and check the fuel filter?
i KNOW its got to be something stupid, and involving it sitting there for so long without being cranked up, because it ran perfect before it was parked.
any/all help is GREATLY appreciated...i need to get it running so we can sell the damn thing
keep in mind im fairly inexperienced on working too extensivily on motors, but i will do anything to try and learn more and become more knowledgeable about them.

like..after it died it kept wanting to turn over and would be on the brink of starting, but just wouldnt.
would it have hurt something trying to start it with bad gas? or would draining the old gas and refilling with good gas be good enough?
also, how would you go about draining the tank?
thanks!

I had an old '79 Thunderbird and someone had reamed out the unleaded gas filler neck hole and put cheaper leaded gas in it. Once I dropped the cats, it ran like new ... LOL!!!! Anyway, if all else fails ... check for clogged cats. Older ones used to have hardened wax compositer pellets and they would get old and sometimes deteriorate and clog ... a shot-in-the-dark????

You have something else going on besides gas. How long did it sit? I would check to see if you were getting spark before I drained the gas tank. I bought a V-max that sat for five years, changed the fuel filter, threw in some fresh gas and a little octane boost. Started right up but I did need to run a few tanks through it before it straightened out but I was in the same spot. I was selling it and didnt want to put a bunch of time or money into it. I rode it all summer and sold it. The guy still has it and it runs great.

Don't take this the wrong way, but did you look in your intake and in your exhaust pipes?? After sitting a year, especially if it was sitting outside, animals tend to build nests in those areas and if its clogged then you will starve the engine for air or the exhaust will bog it down. Also check the plugs and again like everyone else said change all of your filters.
