some say yes ,some say no, I personally went ahead and changed the timing chain and oil pump.Ive heard that a new stock chain would be fine from numerous sponsors and a ported pump a good idea also. and for that part if you change the oil pump go ahead and change the timing chain cause now its right there.I changed both of mine to prevent future damage/problems and I have a cam similar to the one you want.

you could go with a LS2 timing chain for only like $30. It's a lot beefer and stronger than the LS1 one. Thats what I did

i have no problem with my rollmaster double, you have to shim it because of oil pump clearance but it comes with the spacer so that does nothing to detract from getting the chain. ]

depending on your mileage i wouldnt change the chain and you already have the upgraded pump.

So with a rollermaster, we wont need to do anything but install the plate it comes with right? No grinding of oil pump? Please elaborate in idiot terms.

those were idiot terms. they come with plates that install between the pump and the block so that it will clear a double roller timing chain.

I am going with the LS2 chain as well. I have everything pulled, and going to install it tomorrow. LS2 chain is the way to go in my book, plus alot cheaper then a double roller. Just my 2 cents.

Just a reminder! The LS2 chain is much better, but even GM has installed a chain damper on all the LS2's to help prevent the chain slack that occurs under a load at high RPM's.
IMO you could at least use the Rollmaster single roller, that would be an upgrade over the LS2.
