Default JPR 388ci all-bore initial dyno results

see below for the graph, or copy and paste the link below into your browser window:

http://www24.brinkster.com/ezerner/388dyno2.jpg

I took a digitial picture, my scanner is kinda screwy.

My hosting is not so hot, so if anyone feels like rehosting, please do.
This is my ARE h/c vs. the 388.
Changes from the H/C setup:
JPR 388 Darton-sleeved all-bore, JPR oil pump, jwiss timing chain(?), etc.. (Joe feel free to add),
QTP 1 7/8 headers, same y-pipe and exhaust
232/236 cam from 226/232 ARE lunati cam
Reworked ARE heads with JPR revised intake porting

350 miles on the new short block. Barometer of 29.32 I believe. Stock injectors, they dont seem to be close to maxing out.

The torque curve is crazy, and you can feel it on the street, at part throttle to full throttle at any rpm-- I feel ready to race someone in 6th gear at 2000rpm.

The cam seems to be too small, by a lot I think now. The car idles like stock, and you cant even tell anything is going on. Its almost mellow.

Tuning -- we dialed it in using the MAF translator, still getting 3.5 - 4 degrees of knock, but timing wasnt too bad for the most part floating around 28...Joe can comment further on this.

And how many shops would drive 2 hrs+ each way to come pick you up and take you to the dyno? Thanks again Joe!

Thanks to Joe and Tom again.

Ok in case that doesnt work, ill describe the graph:
400rwtq is hit at around 3200rpm. Peak torque of 451rwtq is reached at 4600-4700rpm (best run was 451.7 SAE)

HP plateaus at 450.4 at 6000rpm, but hits 400rwhp at 4700rpm.

STD numbers were 462rwhp/462rwtq

Your welcome Eric, thanks for your patients and Business!

Before this motor was assembled, we ran into a couple small detail problems, but nothing major, another major detail that was taken care of right off was to ensure the block heads were milled perfectly true. Big thanks to Fel Pro gasket company for stepping up with a great over bore gasket too.

Quick run down on the engine details on the 387ci:

Aluminum block with Darton system sleeves.
Comp 232/236 cam (suspected to be on the smallish side)
JPR ported and shimmed oil pump.
Diamond Racing 4.125 pistons.
Diamond rings.
Stock replacement cam bearings.
Fed Mogul Rod and Main racing bearings.
Stock rods with ARP Pro series rod bolts.
Blue printed bottom end.
ARE 2.08 re-worked cyl heads by JPR to our HV runner design.
ARE Ported Z06 intake manifold.
NGK TR55 plugs.
QTP 1-3/4 SS velocity coned collectors (non merge)
Upgraded timing gears and chain.
MMS throttle body.
85mm MAF.
Whisper clear lid.
SLP 2x2 cat back.
SLP's Y pipe. (Modded)
Smooth bellows.
FTRA.
12 bolt 4:10 rear.
Ram clutch.

So 450/451 SAE was the final numbers. There is a recalibration to the PCM that should be done to re-orient the cubic inches from 346 and a light edit to the timing map to get the 3-4 KR put in check. All in all Tom and I are pleased with the results, you would swear the car was stock with just headers and a cat back from how tame it sounds! NO leaks! the motor was pressure tested over night after the initial break in and didn't loose any pressure.

Joe @ JPR.

PS Hold you pants on Paul, yours in next!

If u r racing be sure to keep some gas in her. Joe seems like all the hard work IS paying off. Yowsers,

From the graph it looks like the engine is starving out a little up top. A bigger cam and a good tune and it looks like this sucker would go 475 easy. Nice results Joe/ Congrats ezss.

Are the heads LS-6 castings?

Nice results Erik. All that extra torque must be a nice difference I'm sure you can feel, which = fun on the street

They are LS1 heads.

Here is a really interesting graph, my 388 vs. Joe's 450rwhp A4 H/C car.

copy and paste link to browser window:

I agree, the car should peak higher and I think we could do at least 470 with a bigger cam and tuning. Whatcha think joe??

What kind of $$$$$$$$ did all that crap run ya? I noticed you were disappointed with you ARE H/C from Rapid Motorsports, but you never actually seen its full potential, did you? For some time there you were having issues breaking into the 11s right? Did you ever get that solved?

Yes I did run 11s with the H/C setup, best of 11.87 @ 117.8, with five other runs that were 11s with 117.xx traps. Maybe a better driver would have seen a mid 11.
