is it worth portin a stock ls1 intake out.

Given the composition of the intake, I'd bet it would be a real mess trying to do so.

 

Not recommended at all by what I have heard. You would need to go to a LSx FAST intake to do any port matching.

 

I did. At first i used a dremel tool too do it.All that did was rip strips of nylon out.That was a waste of time. Then i did a search and found that 40 grit sand paperwraped around your finger works much better. It took me 8 hours by hand to do it.

I have pp 5.3 heads i made a probe that looks like a T. The width of the t matches my heads intake width. With this tool i was able to reshape the last 3 to 4 inchs of the ls1 intake. Stock the last 3 to 4 inches narrows down to match the stock heads.

Inside the manifold im sure there is another part of the port that has a crossection that is too small. To make a ls1 manifold flow better you would need to cut out the bottom of the manifold and fix that problem to see a flow improvement. I think.

I was hopeing to gain 10 cfm. Everything ive read says i got at most 3 cfm.
If i got 5 cfm im happy.The intake is now port matched.

I also added a techline dfl coating on the intake ports. The last 6 inchs in the the ports. I added a anti heat coating on the bottom of the manifold.

For those who might try this have some jb weld on hand. You will make mistakes especialy if you use a dremel. The jb is used to fill any pits. i have had no probs with any jb comeing out in 2 years of use.
