rocker arm question
rocker arm question I wasn't planing on doing a cam until i did heads, and i just wanted to to see what kind of gains i could get from doing a set of 1.75 comp rocker arms over stock? these will change over fine when i do heads and cam, so i figured why not go ahead and get them to add a bit. (btw: i am stuck on just the comp stuff, because i get it dirt cheap)
Keep your stock rockers. any power you gain from the increase in ratio will be negated by the heavy tips on the valve. Lots of people running stock rockers on 450+ rwhp cars around here, it's the best way to go.
I,ve got the comp pro magnums and I like them. They allow you to set lifter preload preciesely.They also won't dump their bearings all over the motor like the stockers have a history of doing.The roller on the valve end should kill a little friction also.
Probably won't see a big power gain but the reliabilty of a chomemoly roller rocker
should give some peice of mind.I put manley springs and comp pushrods in at the same
time as my bolt on car was revving a little to high in the lights for the stock stuff with
a 430 gear.
