Default Cam for a stock A4?? Which one?

I know this maybe a question that has been asked before. However, my search here did not answer any of my questions. I have a 2000 WS6 with longtubes and a 85 mm tb. Also, I have HPtuner if that helps any with my questions. I would like to know which cam should I go with if I do not plan on changing out my stock convertor. I would like to have a nice sounding cam like all the people talk about when it comes to the GM hot cam. However, I would like to have more power than the hot cam while maintaining all of the good features like driveablity and longevitiy. The car is a daily driver in the summer. I like to go with the stage 3 precision porting heads when I do pick a cam to go with. You can see these heads at http://www.precisionporting.com/heads.html I realize I may have to change out the stock convertor to a higher rpm value. I maybe mistaken, but won't a higher rpm convertor be harder on the rear end? Too much dough for me right now to buy a 12 bolt. Maybe later down the road, but not now. Funds won't let me do that. For now, I would like to get info on the best set up for the money. Can anyone help me?

Talking

I have an A4 with LT's and 3500 Stall and I am going with the TSP Torquer cam for my daily driver. The stall really helps on launches.

Honestly you'd be much better off just getting a good cam and a 3500+ stall then getting cam and heads. It will be cheaper and faster and your rear-end should be fine. As far as which cam to go with, do a couple search's and you'll find more info than you ever wanted to know. I have a 224/224 with .581" lift on a 114 lsa and it's a little small for my taste, probably be going up to either the f13 or one of the new tsp cams. Just depends on what you really want.

I went with a TR224 on a 114. Specs are 224/224 .561/.561 ICL=110 LSA=114. Great idle and performance.

What you might consider is to get the heads first and do the cam later. The Precision Porting heads flow great down around .200-.400" valve lift and you are worried about drivability with your converter. If ultimately you plan to do the rest of the mods, it might be a good alternative.

Food for thought anyhow
