Default HELP! 14 out of 16 springs swapped, LOST retainer!

Well, I was on the home stretch... I was working on changin my last two springs, the two furthest back on the passenger side, and then I dropped the spring's retainer (cap) down past my headers... But it never hit the ground...

BTW, I have spare keepers, but no spare reatiners (stock), which means I have to order them from pontaic, so my car will be held up a few more days

I LITERRALLY looked for over 2 hours to find that thing, and I could not. I checked the infamous motormount space, on top of the starter, between the header tubes, etc...

Now I finally think I know where it might be, but can't figure out how to get it out... On the passenger side firewall, there is this big plastic box looking thing (think it houses the heater core or something...) I think it is stuck way under there because when I insert a pen magnet in there I here something rattling, but it seems to be jammed....

Any suggestions would be great.. I want to hear what my new cam sounds like (hotcam), but this delay sucks!!!

Yeah those back two springs are fun aren't they? lol. My friend that helped me with my HC install last weekend keep a magnet pointed at those retainers when I was removing those springs. It is a tight fit back there!Get your local dealer to do a locator on those retainers. You might be able to have them today if another dealers has them locally. Good luck.

OMG... I got the last two springs on!!!

They are tough... In fact the "more" tool didn't work well with those tool because it was so hard to get the keepers in place...

I used the an ol' hand crank compressor for the last two... There was just enough room to get it back there, and the keepers went right on!

Well, the rest is just buttoning everything up...

I'm not going to charge the A/C today.. maybe I'll just take my chances with the old o-rings... Thanks though!

Enjoy the car show, I'm definitely obsessed with finishing up today, but thanks for the invite!
