Default How far can 5.3 heads be milled?

Like the title says how much can 5.3 heads be milled?

Also how much can be milled before shorter pushrods are needed?

Also i did a search and could not find a clear answer to the compressed thickness on stock MLS head gaskets. I read anywhere from .050 to .060. What is more accurate?

I wouldnt mill them more than .050", usually every .006" is a cc taken out of the chamber also. Run push rods that are shorter the same amount as was milled off of the head is a good guide line to follow to keep the geometry right.

the mls gaskets are .056 Look up quench and research how much lift your cam will be and what CR you want to run and then figure out how much milling you would need to acheive that with a .045 gasket like the mr. gaskets to bring quench to optimal gap. If you mill your heads or use a combination of milling and thinner gaskets to go more than .040 then you would need to get the 7.35 pushrods to keep the preload from being too much on the stock lifters. The search function is really helpfull with your questions, there is alot of articles on this with some REALLY good info, I was about as far from a gearhead as someone could get till I started reading this forum. Great guys that are willing to give anyone and everyone a ton of great information.
