Can someone please expalin what the difference of LS1,LS2,LS3, etc...

hello i may sound like a idiot but i hear LS1 LS2 etc.. but i have no clue what any of it means. can some please explain. thank you

LS1 type engines are from 97-04. LS2 just relaesed in the new vette. Basically an evolution of the LS1. Small and Large changes that make it a GEN IV vs GEN III
