Default HELP! Cam question related to P/V clearance issue.

Ok, over the last week i've been throwing out cam specs due to the fact I thought that it was going to be the exact number (CUSTOM GRIND) well, What is writen in stone TODAY is that my new cam is going to be 228/235 .588.602 (what I've been saying was 227/234 .595.605) all on a 111LSA. HERE IS THE MAIN QUESTION: ANYONE ON THIS BOARD THAT HAS A SIMILAR CAM, WITH 5.7 HEADS MILLED .30, HOW IS YOU PISTON-TO-VALVE CLEARANCE? are you safe? My new heads are on the way, along with my custom cam, and dont want to have any issues. everyone is telling me to clay it, but I don't understand how. Just like which lenght pushrods to use (7.4's or 7.35's) I was told to stick with the 7.4 length, so thats what I'm going with. Any input is GREATLY THANKED.

Heh....a 228/235 duration cam with a lift of .588/.602 on 5.7L heads that were milled .030"....

Man, you got some ***** if you want to fire that up without claying. I'm no expert, but I bet you're gonna smash your valves pretty hard with that setup.

first of all, who did you talk to at comp? second of all is this on a on a 111 also?

if so, the intake should be fine, and but the exhaust is kinda iffy. it'd probably clear on stock heads but i'd definately check it, stock or not. just put a dab of clay on the pistion top and spin the motor over twice w/the valvetrain stablilized. if you dont have at least .080 in the heghth of the clay, dont run it. also 7.4 p-rods are fine for that application. just dont mill em' anymore for use the 7.4's

btw what springs are you using?

Thanks for the reply, Im using the stock GM springs with this cam, JUST KIDDING My new heads came with double valve springs (comp 987's I think) they should hold with no problem. And yes, this is all on a 111LSA

No disrespect to Mark as I know he is extremely knowledgable but I would check P/V clearance before running a motor with stock pistons and a cam that big. Better safe than sorry.
